logo_sofcomThe first newsletter of the SOFCOM - FP7 project is now available.

SOFCOM is an applied research project devoted to demonstrate the technical feasibility, the efficiency and environmental advantages of CCHP plants based on SOFC fed by different typologies of biogenous primary fuels (locally produced), also integrated by a process for the CO2 separation from the anode exhaust gases.

HyTEC project featured in Euronews print email

logo_hytecThe HyTEC project was recently featured in a Euronews programme, with footage of the Air Products Hydrogen fuelling station and taxi operation.

"There are standards that will still need to be put in place for hydrogen vehicles, but part of projects like this helps to address those issues. As we move towards commercialisation of these vehicles in 2015, the required regulations will be addressed and in place," says Diana Raine, project coordinator for the HyTEC (Hydrogen Transport for European Cities) project.

Mar_EstellesPlease join us in welcoming Mar Estellés to MATGAS as Research Assistant.

Mar Estelles joined MATGAS in July 2012 after finishing her studies of Chemical Engineering at the Technical University of Valencia. As part of her academic trainee Mar earned a grant to join the Process Control Group at NTNU (Trondheim). There, she carried out a research project on the design of integrated distillation columns for separation of multicomponent mixtures. As well as focusing on chemical processes, Mar also acquired a deep knowledge on environmental issues and Life Cycle Assessment methodologies through different technical placements.

 In her new position at MATGAS, Mar will be working on an internal R&D project which aims at characterizing and testing selected materials used in gas-solid catalytic processes for H2 production, and also for others applications such as separation of industrial gases.

Welcome to MATGAS - Irene Torres print email

Irene_TorresPlease join us in welcoming Irene Torres to MATGAS as Research Assistant.

Irene joined MATGAS after graduating in Physics from the Autonomous University of Barcelona. During her undergraduate studies, she joined MATGAS for a summer internship on 'Thermogravimetric studies of polymer electrolyte membranes', followed by her final project on 'AFM as a characterization tool for polymer electrolyte membranes', in the framework of the European project LoLiPEM.

In her new position Irene will be working in the LoliPEM project performing long-term tests to Hydrogen polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) and also continuing with the characterization of polymer electrolyte membranes by atomic force microscopy.

Welcome to MATGAS - Pilar Castro Alcantara print email

foto_pilarPlease join us in welcoming Pilar Castro Alcantara to MATGAS as Executive Technical Assisant.

Pilar joined MATGAS at the beginning of July to support MATGAS’s Director as well as support the MATGAS Board of Directors Meetings. She is also in charge of activities related to increase the visibility of the company organizing workshops and internal / external events.

Pilar joins us from Covidien Spain SL (formerly Tyco HealthCare) where she was the Executive Assistant to the VP for Europe and Middle East. Previously, she has held several other positions as Executive Assistant in Europe and Latin America.

Pilar earned a degree as Executive Assistant at the British Academy and a Diploma in Business Administration from the Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicadas.
