bcn-b_meetingOn the 14th July 2011 we celebrate the first formal meeting of the Barcelona Nanotechnology Cluster – Bellaterra (BNC-b), a scientific and industrially oriented virtual entity, grouping the capabilities and expertises in nanoscience and technologyof the departments and research centres on the Autonomous University Campus, and encompassed in the Autonomous University Research Park (PRUAB).

The aim of the Cluster is to go beyond the frontiers of institutions and disciplines to realise the potential of the UAB campus in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology.

Air Products (NYSE:APD) is celebrating the ten-year anniversary of its joint venture MATGAS, a strategic alliance between Carburos Metálicos―part of the Air Products Group, the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), and the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB).
To mark the event, MATGAS held an International Symposium on Energy, Sustainability and the Environment on June 1st and 2nd at its facilities in Barcelona. Over the two days, world-leading experts came together to unveil significant findings and explore future research prospects and challenges. Speakers included MATGAS director, Dr. Lourdes F. Vega; Professor Robert Armstrong of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), USA; Professor Michele Aresta of the University of Bari in Italy; and Professor Andreas Züttel of the EMPA in Zurich, Switzerland.
